
Easy chilli and bacon pasta
A spicy and cheap meal that'll keep you going for hours. It can also be doubled up if you're making for two or if you want to freeze some.
100g pasta
chilli powder
2 rashers of bacon
Half a tin on chopped tomatoes
100ml passatta
Put the pasta in boiling water and cook for 12 minutes. Meanwhile cut the bacon into strips and cook in a hot pan and fry until cooked, remove from pan and set aside. Using a small saucepan empty the chopped tomatoes and passatta into it and bring to the boil. Simmer and add the chilli powder and bacon and simmer for 5-10 minutes. Once the pasta is cooked, drain and mix in with the pasta sauce and serve in a bowl.

Peppery tomato soup
This peppery will soup will fill you up for the rest of the night and it's great to make in bulk or for a larger portion.
1 tin of chopped tomatoes
3 peeled tomatoes
1 chopped onion
1tbsp olive oil
2 crushed cloves of garlic
Splash of milk
1 tbsp of butter
Pepper
Crusty bread (optional)
Using a hot pan, fry the garlic and onion together in pepper and the olive oil for about 5 minutes or until brown. Then add the butter, once melted add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes. Once finished top with some more pepper and serve with some crusty bread.

Spanish Rice
150g rice (preferably Arborio)
One small onion chopped
50g chorizo
150ml vegetable stock
½ tsp chilli powder
1tsp turmeric
½ tsp garam masala
50g chopped fresh coriander
1 chopped garlic clove
Fry the onion and garlic in some oil in a hot pan for about 5 minutes or until brown. Once cooked add the rice and spices and cook for a further 3 minutes. Pour in the stock and allow to simmer for 45 minutes adding more hot water if needed so it doesn't dry out. Once the rice has gone creamy add the chorizo and the coriander and cook for 2 more minutes and serve.
