Choosing the right bank account is a difficult decision for anyone but it’s even harder for Students as there are so many offers and deals out there! This article will show you all the best student bank accounts around and help you decide which one suits you. We have put the banks in order of which we recommend most.

              

Natwest Student Account

• £1250 overdraft. Interest free for 1 year.

• Free 5 year railcard worth £120 which can also be used for discount at TopShop, TopMan, Office and GAME.co.uk.

• £100 off selected ASUS laptops.

• £50 off Mobile Broadband from 3.

• Student Credit Card with £500 limit

• Online, mobile and telephone banking

Opening your student account online means you will get a free Microsoft LifeCam and be entered into a draw to win £3000 in cash.

The Natwest Student account offers some brilliant offers for Students with the 5 year free railcard coming in very handy for students who travel to and from Uni regularly.

               

Halifax Student Current Account

• Up to £3,000 interest free student overdraft.

The Halifax Student Current Account has the largest interest free overdraft of all the student bank accounts out there but they don’t seem to offer any other deals for students.

               

Royal Bank of Scotland Student Bank Account

• £100 OFF ASUS laptops.

• £50 off mobile broadband from 3

• 25% off gigs and shows.

• 2 for 1 cinema tickets at VUE.

• Up to £2,750 interest free overdraft.

• Credit card with £500 limit.

• Online applications receive free Microsoft Webcam.

The RBS student account is very similar to Natwest’s student account and they even have some of the same offers. This account is brilliant for movie and music fans but it can’t beat Natwest’s offer of a free 5 year railcard.

              

Barclays Student Additions Account

• One free cinema ticket every month for 6 months.

• £200 interest free overdraft with possibility of extending to £3,000.

• Connect card with cash machine withdrawal limit of £300.

A great deal for any film buffs out there but the interest free overdraft is the smallest out of all student accounts!

                

HSBC Student Bank Account

• Up to £2,000 interest free overdraft.

• Two years free worldwide travel insurance.

• 6% AER on monthly balances up to £1,000.

• In branch student advisors.

• Student credit card with £500 limit.

The HSBC Student Bank Account looks like it has some great deals but make sure to read all of the small print concerning the interest free overdraft, 6% interest and free insurance to make sure they really are free!

                 

Lloyds TSB Academy

• £1,500 tiered interest free planned overdraft in years 1 -3 and up to £2,000 in years 4-6.

• £100 cash for recommending 4 friends by 11th October.

• Free NUS Extra card.

• Free mobile banking pack.

• 35 free music downloads from eMusic.

• Credit card with £500 limit.

The Lloyds TSB Academy account for students doesn’t offer as many good deals as other bank accounts. The overdraft is tiered so students can only receive a certain amount at one time.

In order to get the £100 free cash, a student must recommend 4 friends who must all open their accounts by 11th October and deposit at least £200 or a student loan of at least the same amount by the 31st October 2008.

              

                

It’s amazing what students can get these days and there is a bank account to suit every one of them so be sure to make good use of these deals. Natwest is by far the best student bank account around as it has the best and most useful freebie available in the form of the 5 year Railcard which they have just made even better by including discounts in popular stores! If a railcard won’t be any use to you then the Royal Bank of Scotlands’ student bank account will be a suitable option for many students.

Before signing up to any of these deals, all students should read the small print and check out the terms and conditions of all freebies to make sure that you really do get them! Popping into your local branch is a great idea as you can actually speak to someone about the account and if it’s any good for you!
