Newsnight, James Caan & more on ‘recession’

Friday, July 4th, 2008

I saw the James Caan from the BBC’s dragons den a couple of nights ago on Newsnight discussing or not whether there was going to be a recession and what should be done to stop it.

All things are pointing to a recession at the moment…

  • Sinking house prices
  • High energy costs
  • High food costs
  • High oil costs
  • Banks won’t lend money for mortgages
  • The employment market is slowing

and more things besides. I agreed with what James was saying in that the government must help us out here. If the government don’t want a recession then they must ‘ease the pinch’ on the average British person right now. It’s time to start cutting tax on energy and petrol and place these taxes elsewhere.

I personally have the viewpoint that there is so much wastage by the government that many millions of taxpayers money is virtually ‘lost’ due to poor allocation of the money or the money is not used to its full extent.

Recession won’t hit students so bad because the students will get the same amount of money regardless. The only thing to hit students bad (as I have said before) is these top up fees, high energy costs and rising food costs.

This is partly why this site is here. To help you guys out a bit more!

Just a quick one today.

Big news on the book that’s coming out - it’s just been sent to the publishers! It is going to be available on Amazon.co.uk for £7.99 but of course will be available free in e-book form by signing up on the email. You can see the front cover design on the front page of the site.

Sample drafts have already been sent out and the reviews have been extremely good! We’ll be sending out a near perfect copy on the email within the next couple of weeks so look out for that!

Hopefully you’ve already booked your holiday away from the UK as the weather doesn’t seem all that great, I want to be away again!

Take care for now,
